The wood for item comes from central and tropical West Africa, and is known as camwood or barwood in the UK. When freshly cut, the heartwood is a very distinctive, vivid bloody red, maturing to dark purple-brown with red streaks – sharply demarcated from the straw-coloured sapwood. The grain is straight to interlock and the texture is coarse with a lustrous surface. The lighter shadow in this bowl gives it a shimmering affect under the light. Also included is a pewter lid depicting a butterfly and flowers.
Finished with a natural bee’s wax to a high shine.
Size 12. cm Wide , Height 5 cm and inside depth 3 cm. Lid size is 7.5cm.
